Secret garden

Getting ready to break ground on a backyard mini-garden.  I’m late setting up, but this year will be just for practice.  A friend is lending his sunny backyard, and already another neighbor of his, a lovely Tibetan woman who speaks very little English, has carved out a neat rectangular patch of earth for some lettuce, radishes, and carrots.   I think I’ll work right alongside her with my little packets of spinach, cucumbers, some arugula.   Not the most adventuresome attempt, but I know it will be great to see those first proud new shoots!  And then it will be time for a community dinner night!
